This is a very practical set of three contemporary style kitchen knives. The finely ground blades are made from cryogenically treated 440C stainless steel. 440C stainless is very easy to care for. It resists rust and is hard enough to take and hold a razor-sharp edge, however it is not so hard that it becomes difficult to sharpen by conventional means.
The handles are made from Corian (that's right, the countertop stuff) and the handle pins are stainless steel. Corian is a wonderful material for kitchen knife handles for the same reasons that it makes a superior countertop. It's attractive, durable, non-porous and dishwasher safe. The set is priced at $150.00

This 2 knife set of Asian style knives is also made from cryogenically treated 440C stainless steel.
The handles are made from stabilized giraffe bone with a black line spacer between the knife tang and the bone. A single mosaic pin complements the elegant shape of these knives. Bone is very durable, but it is also somewhat porous, so these handles will develop a patina in use. All knives made with natural handle materials should be hand washed and dried - never run through the dishwasher. The price of this set is $175.00.
